DJI's New Electric Mountain Bike: The Amflow PL Carbon
DJI has faced challenges in the US in recent years, with issues related to national security, customs delays, and potential import bans affecting its drone business. Despite this, DJI's products are still technically legal to purchase, although their newest drones may be difficult to find in stores. Without a mandated security review by a federal agency before the end of 2025, DJI's presence in the American market could be further jeopardized.
However, DJI's foray into e-bikes with the Amflow PL Carbon remains unaffected by these challenges, at least for now.
The Amflow PL Carbon is DJI's first electric mountain bike, now available for purchase in the US. Despite the controversies surrounding its drones, DJI seems to be entering the e-bike market with a fresh perspective, offering a high-performance machine.
The Amflow features DJI's Avinox drive system, including a 1,000W motor producing 88.5 pound-feet of torque. The bike is lightweight at 42.3 pounds, with an 800Wh battery, fast charging capabilities, Fox suspension, SRAM drivetrain, and high-end brakes.
There are two models available: the standard Carbon priced at $7,499 and the Carbon Pro at $10,199. While not cheap, these bikes set a new standard in their class.
DJI's reputation as a leading tech company suggests that its entry into the e-bike market could have significant implications for riders worldwide. The Amflow PL Carbon aims to redefine what an e-MTB can offer: lightweight, powerful, and fun.
While DJI continues to navigate challenges in the drone industry, its venture into e-bikes is quietly gaining traction on US trails. If the Amflow is any indication of the future of e-bikes, count me in.
