At RideApart, we have a strong appreciation for all things Cub House Honda. Cub House is a branch of Thai Honda that specializes in producing small, limited-edition runs of Honda's popular 125s. While some may argue that their focus is primarily on paint and graphics, isn't that often the first thing that catches your eye when looking at a bike? Aesthetics play a significant role, even though they are not the only factor.

Recently, the world mourned the loss of Akira Toriyama, the beloved creator of the Dragon Ball manga series and a passionate gearhead. Fans worldwide have been paying tribute to his immense influence in manga, anime, and beyond.

One remarkable example of how art can inspire art is the Ganesha Customs Monkey Racer Replica. This build is a real-life recreation of a Moto Guzzi V8 GP Racer that Toriyama depicted in his manga. It transitioned from being a classic race bike in the real world to an abstracted replica based on a Honda Monkey by Ganesha Customs.

Projects like these serve as a tribute to Toriyama's lasting impact long before his passing. Another noteworthy creation is the working Kaneda's Bike custom by Bel y Bel customs in Barcelona, inspired by Katsuhiro Otomo's Akira.

In 2019, Cub House Honda released a special limited edition Honda Monkey x Dragon Ball bike. In light of Toriyama's passing, Cub House shared a heartfelt tribute on their official Facebook page, expressing gratitude to the creator for the special memories.

If you're interested in a closer look at the details of the Monkey x Dragon Ball bike, a video walkaround by Thai YouTube channel GT-R Maxx is available. The original price for the limited edition was ฿119,990, equivalent to about US $3,356 in 2024.

Our thoughts are with Toriyama's family and friends during this challenging time. His legacy lives on through his work and his passion for motor vehicles.
