Chinese Motorcycle Conglomerate Qianjiang Expands Global Market with New Cruiser
Qianjiang, a Chinese motorcycle conglomerate, has been making headlines with its continuous production of new motorcycles. The company owns brands like QJ Motor, Benelli, Keeway, and MBP, and has a significant presence in the Chinese motorcycle industry.
In recent years, Qianjiang has expanded to the global market and has become a strong player in the European market, especially with beginner-friendly models. Its latest addition to the lineup is the C352LS, a mid-displacement cruiser under the MBP brand. Despite its name sounding more suited for the smartphone market, the C352LS is a stylish retro-modern cruiser with design elements inspired by Indian and Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
At first glance, the C352LS appears as a low-slung cruiser with tall handlebars and forward controls. Its streamlined bodywork and horizontal oval headlight resemble the Harley Sportster S and Indian Scout, albeit with a slimmer profile. While it may lack the muscularity of other cruisers, some believe that Qianjiang could have added more substance to its design.
In terms of performance, the C352LS deviates from its larger siblings, the C1002V and C650V, by featuring a more compact and cost-effective parallel-twin engine displacing 349.5 cubic centimeters. It produces a steady 32.6 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 26 Nm (19.2 pound-feet) of torque. MBP claims that the bike has a top speed of 120 kilometers per hour (75 miles per hour).
With its performance specifications, it is clear that the C352LS is targeted towards beginner riders. Its low weight of 170 kilograms (presumably dry weight) makes it even more accessible to new riders. With a fuel capacity of 14 liters, the wet weight is estimated to be around 184 kilograms (405 pounds).
The C352LS features a basic double-cradle steel frame and standard suspension components, including an inverted front fork and shock absorbers at the rear. The bike is equipped with 16-inch front and 15-inch rear wheels, which may pose a challenge for riders when it comes to finding replacement tires.
MBP has not yet announced the specific markets where the C352LS will be available or its pricing. However, since the bike was showcased at EICMA, it is likely to make its European debut. Its specifications suggest that it is designed to be an A2-compliant cruiser for young riders progressing in their riding careers.
