Charming 1964 Polaris Sno-Traveler Pacer K80D for Sale

When you think of Polaris, you probably associate it with being the parent company of Indian Motorcycle. However, Polaris has been involved in the snow industry for many decades, even before acquiring Timbersled. This 1964 Polaris Sno-Traveler Pacer K80D is an early example of their work and is incredibly charming.

The Sno-Traveler is powered by a Kohler 305cc single-cylinder engine that was originally rated at eight horsepower. Unfortunately, there is no hour meter, so it's unknown how many hours it has been run. The current seller acquired it in 2023 from a collector who had completely refurbished it.

Featuring two steel skis up front, rubber treads, a curved Plexiglass windscreen, and a leaf-spring suspension, the Sno-Traveler offers a unique design. Steering is done through a simple body-colored yoke with black rubberized grips, while two levers control the brake and throttle.

Located behind the red and white vinyl seat is a small red cylindrical tank held in place with silver metal bands. The tank is labeled "Emergency Thirst Aid" and is intended to hold water. This shows that Polaris was ahead of its time in considering hydration needs even back in 1964.

The Sno-Traveler is currently being sold on Bring a Trailer in Oregon and can be shipped to the auction winner's location. A video demonstrates that the pull-start engine runs well. Whether it's for display or a vintage Christmas-time ride in the snow, this little machine is sure to capture hearts.

The auction for the Sno-Traveler ends on December 1, 2023, at around 5 p.m. Eastern. At the time of writing, the bid is $2,712 and includes a vintage brochure and other period paperwork. If you're interested in seeing more photos or bidding, check the link in our Sources.

As a bonus, the seller has also shared a fun Polaris promotional video from 1965 featuring the Sno-Traveler.
