The Honda CB500X is Now the NX500
The Honda CB500X has been a popular choice in Honda's lineup for many years. It has gained a reputation as a versatile entry-level adventure bike that appeals to both new and experienced riders. Now, Honda has announced that the CB500X will be renamed the NX500 for the 2024 model year.
The NX500 features some styling updates, including a new headlight and taillight. It is available in three new color options: Grand Prix Red, Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic, and Pearl Horizon White. Despite the name change and styling revisions, the NX500 is clearly the successor to the CB500X.
Under the surface, the NX500 remains part of the CB500 family. It is powered by the same 471cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, parallel-twin engine that delivers 47 horsepower and 43 Nm of torque. The bike also features a six-speed manual transmission with a slipper clutch for a smooth ride. Suspension duties are handled by Showa Separate-Function Big Piston forks and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock. Braking is provided by twin disc brakes in the front and a single disc in the back, with dual-channel ABS as standard.
On the technology front, the NX500 boasts a large, five-inch, full-color TFT display with smartphone connectivity through Honda's Roadsync app. It also features Honda Selectable Traction Control (HSTC), which can be toggled off for off-road and technical riding. Additionally, the NX500 is three kilograms lighter than the CB500X, weighing in at 196 kilograms.
