A New Partnership Between Yamaha and CFMoto
A new partnership has been formed between two major brands in the industry: Yamaha from Japan and CFMoto from China. This partnership will result in the creation of a new corporation dedicated to producing motorcycles.
CFMoto has previously partnered with Pierrer Mobility, particularly KTM, for bike production in China. This collaboration has allowed CFMoto to expand alongside Team Orange, resulting in the introduction of models like the 800 MT and 800 NK in the Chinese market. With its recent success, CFMoto now has another significant partner in Yamaha.
Yamaha has joined forces with CFMoto to establish a joint venture. The two companies have named their new venture "Zhuzhou, CF Yamaha Motor Company (ZCYM)." According to CFMoto's official social media announcement:
"CFMOTO and Yamaha have agreed to form a joint venture in Zhuzhou, China. The new business will be known as ZHUZHOU CF YAMAHA MOTOR CO., LTD (ZCYM)."
"This joint venture is subject to obtaining the necessary clearances, permits, and compliance with competition laws and regulations."
"CFMOTO and Yamaha will continue discussions to further enhance competitiveness."
Yamaha has also released a press statement confirming the same information. ZCYM is scheduled to launch in November 2023 and will be located at 76 Jia Ya Road, Lusong District, Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province, China, 412002. CFMoto will hold the majority stake at 50%, Yamaha will have a minor stake at 44.23%, and TAIR YEA LIMITED will hold 5.77%.
A representative for ZCYM has not yet been appointed, but the joint venture is expected to employ approximately 500 individuals who will oversee motorcycle production and sales.
While no official announcements have been made regarding the future of the venture, preparations are underway. Yamaha and CFMoto will provide updates on the developments under ZCYM in the near future. It is possible that CFMoto may become a production partner for another major brand, and we can anticipate new projects from these two players in the pipeline.
