Classic Legends, a subsidiary of Indian automotive giant Mahindra and Mahindra, is known for handling Jawa Motorcycles in the Indian market. The company is now partnering with the University of Warwick in England to develop its first electric motorcycle. The electric motorcycle is expected to be launched globally in 2024. While the branding for the model is still uncertain, it is speculated that it will be marketed under the BSA brand.

Classic Legends previously revived the BSA Gold Star name and launched the motorcycle in December 2021. It is likely that the company will leverage the global recognition of the BSA brand when it comes to launching its electric motorcycle. The model is expected to feature retro-inspired styling and a performance package suited for a relaxed riding experience.

Meanwhile, Classic Legends' biggest rival in India, Royal Enfield, is also developing its first electric motorcycle with a target launch in 2025. Details about Enfield's electric model are currently limited, but the brand has no plans to prioritize its internal combustion models in the near future. Royal Enfield's electric motorcycle platform is primarily being developed for the Indian market, while Classic Legends' platform is likely to be launched in Europe.

Interestingly, Classic Legends has not yet announced plans to develop an electric motorcycle platform based on its Jawa and Yezdi models for the Indian market.
