Honda to Release Major Updates for the 2024 CRF 1100 Africa Twin

Honda is planning to introduce significant updates to its flagship adventure bike, the CRF 1100 Africa Twin, for the 2024 model-year. Reports indicate that the new Africa Twin will feature improvements to the engine, chassis, and overall setup, with a focus on road riding.

A recent article from German motorcycling publication Motorroad Online provides technical details on the 2024 Honda Africa Twin, which were filed with the Swiss Federal Roads Office. According to the report, the 2024 model will see a slight increase in torque, with 78.4 pound-feet (112 Newton-meters) compared to the current model's 73.5 pound-feet (105 Newton-meters). Additionally, the updated model will deliver peak torque at 5,500 rpm, earlier than the current model's 6,250 rpm. The peak power is expected to remain the same at 102 horsepower.

Another significant change is the introduction of a 19-inch front wheel. The current Africa Twin has enduro wheel sizes, with a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel. The tire specifications for the 2024 model include 110/80-19 rubber for the front and the same 150/70-18 tire for the rear. This shift to a 19-inch front wheel indicates Honda's intention to make the 2024 Africa Twin more suitable for road riding, as the recently unveiled Transalp XL750 already caters to off-road enthusiasts. However, it is expected that the Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports will continue to feature the 21-18 wheelset.

It is worth mentioning that the 2024 Africa Twin is expected to gain 6.6 pounds (three kilograms), although the report does not specify where this additional weight will be added. Furthermore, there is a possibility of adding premium technology, either as built-in features or optional extras. Motorrad suggests that features such as front and rear radar, cameras, and even adaptive cruise control could be included.

Fans of the Africa Twin can look forward to the 2024 model-year. Honda is planning to unveil the new Africa Twin at EICMA in November 2023. More information is expected to be released by then, and we will share it with you as soon as it becomes available.
