Big News for the Malaysian Motorcycle Market

KMSB Motors has recently signed a partnership with Suzuki Motor Corporation Japan and launched a new brand called Afaz. This is significant for the Malaysian motorcycle market, as motorcycles are crucial for transportation in many Asian countries. The launch of Afaz will not only make two-wheelers more accessible but also provide a boost to the economy.

Afaz will contribute to Malaysia's manufacturing expertise and create employment opportunities in the country. The motorcycle market in Malaysia is growing, particularly in the manufacturing sector. In 2022, the market size was 718,000 motorcycles. Suzuki will supply crucial components for the manufacturing of new two-wheelers for Afaz.

The launch of Afaz aligns with Malaysia's announcement of The New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030). This plan aims to establish Malaysia as a global leader in industrial development across various industries.

The grand launch of Afaz was attended by notable figures including Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Datuk Seri Isham Ishak, Secretary General of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), and Datuk Wira Arham Abdul Rahman, CEO of Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA). Suzuki Motor Corporation President Toshihiro Suzuki was also present. This event marked a significant moment in the industry's landscape.

While the types of motorcycles Afaz will produce have not been confirmed, it is expected that they will cater to the mass market segment, including commuter scooters and utility-focused two-wheelers. Afaz will establish its own Research, Development, Commercialization, and Innovation (RDCI) initiative to meet the specific needs of the Malaysian market.
