Honda Africa Twin Recall
A recall has been issued by Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) for certain models of CRF1100 Africa Twin motorcycles manufactured between 2020-2022 and 2024-2025. The recall is due to potential corrosion in the left handlebar switch harness caused by oxidation. This corrosion could lead to the loss of horn function and the inability to switch the headlight between high and low beams, posing hazardous situations.
As a result of these issues, the affected motorcycles do not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Dealers will replace the left handlebar switch assembly free of charge. Owners will receive interim letters regarding the safety risk by November 3, 2025, with additional letters to follow once the remedy is available, expected by January 30, 2026. Owners can contact Honda's customer service at 1-866-784-1870 for more information, referencing recall number KS8.
To check if your Africa Twin is included in the recall, you can enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on NHTSA.gov. The potential number of affected units is 7,492, with the NHTSA ID Number being 25V583000.
While this recall may not initially seem alarming, the loss of horn function and the inability to switch headlights can quickly escalate to dangerous situations. It is important to address this issue promptly to avoid potential risks on the road.
