Ducati's Unconventional Diavel V4 RS
For Ducati, categories have always been more like suggestions than rules. This brand excels at creating superbikes that dominate racetracks, naked bikes that are precise on the street, and adventure machines that blend sport and utility. In 2010, Ducati surprised everyone by building a cruiser that wasn't really a cruiser at all.
The original Diavel had a unique blend of features that set it apart from traditional cruisers. It had the long, low stance and oversized rear tire of a power cruiser, but it also had Ducati's signature sharp handling, explosive acceleration, and a swagger that combined muscle car and superbike elements. Riders quickly realized that the Diavel was in a league of its own.
In 2023, Ducati upgraded the Diavel with the 1158cc Granturismo V4 engine, making it smoother, faster, and more sophisticated. However, the Diavel lacked Ducati's RS magic. This changed in 2026 with the introduction of the Diavel V4 RS, a machine that raised the bar significantly.
The standout feature of the Diavel V4 RS is its engine. Ducati replaced the Granturismo V4 with the 1,103cc Desmosedici Stradale engine from the Panigale and Streetfighter. Despite the slightly smaller displacement, the Desmo V4 is a powerhouse, delivering 182 horsepower at 11,750 rpm. The RS accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.5 seconds, making it the fastest-accelerating road-legal Ducati.
Aside from the powerful engine, Ducati upgraded the suspension to Öhlins components, added forged Marchesini wheels, and incorporated advanced electronics for rider control. The RS also features carbon fiber bodywork, a distinctive three-tone paint scheme, and a wide 240-section rear tire.
Priced at $39,995, the Diavel V4 RS is positioned as an exotic muscle cruiser for riders who seek power, style, and exclusivity.
In essence, the Diavel V4 RS defies traditional categorization, offering a unique riding experience for those who appreciate the thrill of the unconventional.
