RideApart Update: Motorcycle Influencer Receives Generous Donation
If you have been keeping up with RideApart recently, you are likely aware of motorcycle influencer Yogesh Alekari, who was traveling around the world when his KTM 390 Adventure was stolen in Nottingham, England. Not only did he lose his means of transportation, but the bike also contained his passport, high-end cameras, tent, and other belongings. He essentially lost everything except the clothes he was wearing. However, there has been a positive development in his story.
The Off Road Centre has generously donated a KTM 790 Adventure to Alekari after learning about his unfortunate situation. While he is still without his gear and sentimental items collected during his travels through 17 countries since leaving Mumbai, he now has a significant upgrade in terms of machinery.
Several individuals had offered to lend Alekari a motorcycle to complete the remaining portion of his journey, which includes stops in Spain, Morocco, Cape Town, and Kenya. However, The Off Road Centre has decided to gift him the 790 Adventure without expecting anything in return.
Ben Ledwidge, the managing director, and Daniel Watts, the owner of The Off Road Centre, discovered Alekari's story on social media and reached out to offer their assistance.
Watts stated, "We came across Yogesh's story, where he had his bike stolen while grabbing a coffee. We felt compelled to help him out by providing him with this bike. Not only are we supporting Nottingham's reputation, but also the country's. He has traveled to 47 countries without any issues. If we didn't step in, it could have tarnished his view of the country. We don't expect anything from him, we just want to follow his journey and see how he progresses."
Alekari still has a long way to go to complete his global adventure and will be starting a GoFundMe campaign to help him reach Kenya. If you wish to show your support, stay updated on his social media channels and consider making a donation once the campaign is live.
