KTM Faces Production Delays for Upcoming Bikes

Several months after being saved by Indian motorcycle manufacturer Bajaj, KTM is still struggling to navigate its post-insolvency world. The company has once again announced delays in the production of its new bikes.

Since its rescue, KTM has encountered various challenges, including optimistic sales projections, production interruptions, uncertainty regarding MotoGP involvement, and the sale of its X-Bow supercar line. Despite these obstacles, CEO Gottfried Neumeister has maintained a positive outlook in public statements and interactions with the media.

Despite recently reporting positive sales and revenue figures, Neumeister has now revealed that production for four new motorcycles, including a highly anticipated superbike, will be delayed. One model is even postponed until 2027.

In a press release, Neumeister expressed optimism for the brand's future and acknowledged the public's excitement for KTM's upcoming models. However, the delays are necessary to ensure the new bikes meet high performance and technological standards.

The first superbike, the 990 RC, is set to begin production in October, followed by the 1390 Super Adventure S, Evo, and R. The 990 Duke R will enter production in November, while the 1390 Super Duke GT is scheduled for 2027. These dates refer to production start times, not availability in dealerships.

Additionally, KTM is offering a complimentary 4-Year Premium Manufacturer’s Warranty on select models to address existing inventory concerns. Despite these challenges, there is hope for KTM's future, although the company may undergo significant changes.

Only time will tell how KTM navigates these obstacles and emerges from this period of uncertainty.
