The Troubling State of Motorcycle Theft in the UK
Motorcycle culture in the UK is gaining notoriety for all the wrong reasons. A quick search on YouTube will reveal videos of thieves on mopeds stealing bikes in traffic or while parked, leading to understandable outrage among viewers.
People are starting to take matters into their own hands as it appears that the Police are unable or unwilling to address the issue. Unfortunately, this lack of action was evident when a motorcyclist named Yogesh Alekari had his bike stolen during his round-the-world trip.
Alekari, a 33-year-old who had traveled through 17 countries on his KTM 390 Adventure, was devastated when his bike was stolen while parked at Wollaton Park in Nottingham. The bike was not just a mode of transportation for Alekari, but also his home and livelihood as a content creator.
After losing his bike, Alekari was left without a source of income and all his possessions, including valuable items like his MacBook and passport. Despite reporting the theft to the police, Alekari received little assistance and was left waiting in despair.
Nottinghamshire Police claimed to be taking the matter seriously, but their actions did not align with their words. As motorcycle theft continues to be a prevalent issue in the UK, it is clear that more needs to be done to protect riders and their belongings.
If you have any information regarding the stolen bike or the culprits, please contact Nottinghamshire Police or reach out to Alekari through his social media channels.
